Patient Privacy

Patient privacy at our centres is paramount. We ensure through our Practice Privacy Policy that patient information is kept confidential at all times.

Choosing Your Surgeon

In Australia, just about anyone with a basic medical degree is allowed to perform cosmetic surgery. In fact, currently there is no legislation in place which stops any doctor, even your local GP without having undergone formal surgical training, to call themselves a ‘surgeon’.

Your only safeguard is to look for the letters FRACS after a doctor’s name and check that they are member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), as only fully qualified plastic surgeons have these titles and memberships. They reflect many years of training & exams (at least 10 years) in surgery far beyond the medical school period.

Cosmetic Surgical Consultation Costs

A consultation with our Plastic Surgeon is priced at $180. If you bring a referral with you, and the proposed procedure qualifies for Medicare benefits, part of your consultation costs may attract a rebate.

The first consultation, generally lasts over half an hour.

We do not provide finance for your surgical procedure.

About the consultation

Dr Bartholomeusz looks forward to meeting with you, listening to you and discussing your requirements for surgery. At the consultation he will assess your clinical concerns and talk with you about the operation and its costs, risks, and benefits to you.You may request to see before and after photographs of surgery he has performed on other patients. Please bear in mind that these photographs are a guide only and do not always accurately represent your own clinical condition. He will provide you with written information about the procedure and a  comprehensive quotation of costs involved for your operation.

Our Nurse Practitioner, who has many years of experience in surgery and also remains with you during your operation, provides a pre-operative review consultation three weeks prior to your surgery date. At that visit you may ask her any further questions that you may have. You may also bring along a friend, family member or support person to listen to the advice being given.

Other Consultations (for treatment of skin cancers, moles and other conditions)

A consultation with our Plastic Surgeon requires a referral from your General Practitioner or your Specialist, in order to claim a Medicare rebate. Initial consultations are $160.00 (with approximately $70.00 Medicare rebate). Please note General Practitioner referrals are valid for twelve months from the date of initial consultation with our Plastic Surgeon. Specialist referrals are only valid for three months.
